Rules of Engagement

Teams

  • Defenders: The team fighting for survival or to protect the objective against the attackers.
  • Attackers: The team fighting to eliminate the Defenders or capture the objective through any means necessary.

The Defending team has an inherent disadvantage due to the nature of defensive gameplay and the conditions for elimination. To offset this disadvantage, the larger team should be assigned as the Defenders.

Defended Location

  • The Defenders select their choice of defensive location which will remain a secret from the attacking team during their preparation.
  • This location must be on the surface of a planet or moon with a clearly defined boundary no larger than 500 meters in diameter.
    • If the location involves a building, the outer perimeter will be defined as 300 meters from the nearest occupiable structure.
  • This location must be at least 10km outside of any nearby Armistice Zone.
  • The Defending team must have one large ship (Constellation, Corsair, Mole, or similar) on the planet surface within 5km of their location, designated as their Anchor Ship. This ship must be powered on and landed on the surface of the planet.

Victory Conditions

The Defenders choose their defensive location during the preparation phase and the Attackers must search within a designated area to find and eliminate them.

  • The Defenders Win If: At least one member of the defending force is present at the defended location for the duration of the event.
  • The Attackers Win If: All members of the defending force are eliminated from the defending location before the end of the allotted time.
Survivor Check

If the Attackers suspect that all have been eliminated but victory has not yet been declared, they may request a Survivor Check from the Defenders. At least one team member from the defending team must be able to broadcast their screen to one of their teams leaders proving that they are still alive, in the same game server, and located within the defended location. If proof cannot be provided, then the Attackers will be declared Victorious.

Special Restrictions

  • The use of the Crusader Hercules A2 Bomber is not permitted. The Defenders may choose to wave this prohibition at their sole discretion.

Rule Variants

Manhunt Variant

In the Manhunt variant, the Defending team designates a VIP player that must survive at the defended location for the duration of the event.

  • The Defenders Win If: The VIP survives at the designated defensive position for the duration of the event.
  • The Attackers Win If: The VIP is eliminated by the attacking team within the allotted time.

This variant is more difficult for the defending team as only one member of the team needs to be eliminated

Secure Intel Variant

In the Secure Intel variant, the Defending team places a unique combination of items in a storage crate at the defended location.

  • The Defenders Win If: They can protect the Secure Intel for the duration of the event.
  • The Attackers Win If: They can locate, take posession of, and confirm the contents of the secured package within the allotted time.

This variant is more difficult for the attacking team as they must locate the secure package at the defended location.

Preparation

T-60 Minutes: Party Launch and Resource Transfer

  • All participants form a single party and launch from menus. Once in game, the party is disbanded and the two teams split into their respective parties.
    • Late arrivals join their respective parties in game when space allows.
  • The Defenders begin setting up their assets at a location that is kept a secret from the Attackers, and set their respawn location to the nearest low orbit station.
    • Everus Harbor in Hurston, Grim Hex in Crusader, Port Tressler in Area18 or Baijini Point in microTech.
  • The Attackers begin assembling resources for transport to an unknown planetary system.

T-30 Minutes: Notice of System

  • The Defenders notify the Attackers of which planetary system they are defending in.
  • The Attackers begin moving resources and setting respawns to the nearest L2 station.

T-15 Minutes: Notice of Planetary Body, Begin Comm Array Hack

  • The Defenders notify the Attackers of which planetary body they will be defending at.
  • The Defenders confirm that their Anchor Ship has been placed and send the attackers the ship and owner to identify the anchor ship.
  • The Attackers send a team to disable Comm Array orbiting the designated planetary body and then return to the L2 station once comms are disabled.
  • All other Attackers muster at the L2 respawn station awaiting event start.

T-0: Event Start

  • The Attackers may now travel to the planetary body and begin the search for, and the assault of, the Defenders location.

Recovering from Interruption

Org leaders or their designated representatives can ask for a server relaunch if there is a signficant interruption to gameplay, such as third party interference or degraded performance.

In the event of a server relaunch, the attackers must provide the defenders a 20-minute preparation period before they are allowed to resume their search and/or assault. This preparation period begins once all players have joined the server.

Resources

Special Equipment Requirements

  • The Defending team must have one large ship (Constellation, Corsair, Mole, or similar) on the planet surface within 5km of their location, designated as their Anchor Ship. This ship must be powered on and landed on the surface of the planet, and its details relayed to the Attackers at T-15 Minutes.
  • The Attacking team must send a crew to disable the Comm Array at T-15 Minutes. This crew should prepare with a Crypto Key and adequate transportation to and from the Comm Array.

Countdown Timer

One org leader should prepare a shared Countdown Timer overlay that will act as the official event timer which can be displayed on multiple stream overlays.

Configure this timer to count down to a specific date and time to ensure that the timers are synchronized.
